Maxpreps is running a basketball contest/tournament to pick/determine a national HS boys basketball champion. One of the 64 teams to get a bid was Shelby Valley, which got the #11 seed in the South bracket. The Wildcats, from just outside of Pikeville, have played Clintwood, Appy, Grundy & Twin Valley in football in recent years.

Their hoops team won KY's All "A" tourney the past 2 years, and won the overall tourney this year, becoming the first team EVER to win both in the same year.

Now, I know you're syaing "What chance do they have?" Well, I'll tell ya. They've already beaten the top 3 seeds in the South, and a #2 seed in the semis. And now thry're in the FINALS, so their chances are 50-50.

Voting is "Chicago style" - vote early and vote often. Voting ends Thursday.

Oh, the "prize" is a banner for the school to hang in the gym.
